Public, Private and Charter

Schools are very important to most families moving to the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. Because of recent budget cuts, our schools are not ranked among the top in the country. However, there are many schools that are quite good. I speak from experience as both of my children have attended both the public and private school systems and both ended up at top universities including: Duke, MIT, Washington University in St. Louis and University of Chicago. Additionally we have a Charter school system that also has some very fine schools. For these schools, there is an admission process but there is no tuition.

The school districts can be very confusing to those who are moving here. For example, if you live in Paradise Valley, you do not attend school in the Paradise Valley school district. On top of that, you can attend either a Phoenix public school or a Scottsdale public school- depending on which area of Paradise Valley you live in.
